About
2024 is the year of the 30th anniversary of Sinfonietta Cracovia, one of the leading Polish chamber ensembles. Anniversary celebrations are scheduled throughout the year, but their highlight will be the event planned for 9 June in the Kraków Philharmonic. Symphonic sound, virtuoso solos and encounters with eminent performers working with the orchestra over the years—the anniversary concert promises to be exceedingly thrilling, nostalgic, yet joyous.
The anniversary concert at the Krakow Philharmonic is, in a way, a conclusion of the last thirty years, but at the same time, it offers a glimpse into the future. The stage will be graced by musicians (both soloists and in the orchestra line-up) who used to work with Sinfonietta Cracovia over the years and who now shine in the concert halls of Poland and Europe. The performers will include one of the Berlin Philhamonic musicians, double bassist Janusz Widzyk, and NOSPR concertmaster Piotr Tarcholik. Solo parts will be performed also by the leaders of Sinfonietta Cracovia: Maciej Lulek and Marta Nowak. The concert will be conducted by Daniel Stabrawa, long-time Berlin Philharmonic concertmaster who until this day remains a member of the Artistic and Programming Board of the Cracow orchestra.
The programme of the concert includes Beethoven’s classical pieces (Coriolan Overture and Symphony no. 8), virtuoso works of Bottesini and Tansman, as well as the premiere performance of a composition commissioned from Mikołaj Majkusiak: Duel – Concerto for two violins and symphony orchestra.
The event co-funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Fund for the Promotion of Culture within the program “Composers’ Commissions” conducted by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
