About
Never shying away from new challenges and drawing on various musical styles, Sinfonietta Cracovia invites you to another encounter with jazz in the background. This time, the orchestra will join forces with the most famous Polish improvisational string ensemble – Atom String Quartet.
During the concert at the Krakow Philharmonic original compositions by the ensemble's members Dawid Lubowicz, Mateusz Smoczyński, Michał Zaborski, and Krzysztof Lenczowski will be performed in orchestral arrangements.
Since its inception in 2010, the Atom String Quartet has been breaking new ground in performance practice and redefining the traditionally understood form of the string quartet as one of the most important genres of chamber music. The ensemble's style and distinctive sound reflect the musicians' wide range of interests, from traditional jazz and world music to contemporary music based on the works of such masters as Krzysztof Penderecki and Witold Lutosławski. This unique synthesis has led ASQ to perform regularly on the world's most important stages, attracting the attention of critics and audiences alike. Among the artists with whom the ensemble has collaborated are Bobby McFerrin, Branford Marsalis, and Leszek Możdżer.
