About
The “endless stream of emotion” performed on string instruments, one of Mozart’s major pieces made famous, among others, by the feature film Amadeus, as well as Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 3, inspired by romantic sentiments and dedicated to the British queen Victoria—the programme of the December symphony concert in the Stars with the Sinfonietta series looks compelling indeed. This mostly 19th century repertoire will most certainly not lack in romantic elation and classical virtuosity.
On that evening, Sinfonietta Cracovia and the musicians of the Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra will be conducted by Michał Nesterowicz, one of the most acclaimed Polish conductors abroad. Michał Nesterowicz is the winner of competitions, including Concurso Internacional de Dirección de la Orquesta de Cadaqués in Spain, a guest conductor of the Sinfonieorchester Basel and an artist performing on major European stages. He makes records for the Polish Radio and Polish Television, as well as numerous record labels, including Naxos and Channel Classics. His catalogue contains over a dozen albums.
The soloist of the evening will be Alim Beisembayev, a virtuoso pianist who excels at demanding repertoire and whose album of Liszt’s music has been only recently released by Warner Classics. The Kazakhstan-born pianist performs all over the world, but it is the British classical music stage that is particularly close to his heart, as evidenced for instance by the medici.tv Audience Award and the Special Award of the Liverpool Philharmonic Society.
