About
Sinfonietta Cracovia invites you once again to the Łaźnia Nowa Theater for a concert from the Sinfonietta Nova series, in which the ensemble has been consistently exploring the vast areas of contemporary music for several years. This time, the evening will begin with the premiere of Grażyna Pstrokońska-Nawratil's Concha. pamięć morza (Concha. Memory of the Sea). This composition is a continuation of the artist's many years of creative work focused on exploring the properties of sound. Concha refers to the archetype of the shell as one of the oldest wind instruments in human history. The spiral structure of the piece results in a fascinating synthesis – the advanced technical capabilities of today's trombone are used to evoke the original sound of the concha, rooted in ancient rituals and ceremonies.
The concert program will be complemented by Stretched, a piece by Adam Porębski, winner of numerous international and national composition competitions, as well as a selection of Preludes and Fugues by Witold Lutosławski, in which references to Baroque forms are purely symbolic. In the modern interpretation, the themes of the fugues remain veiled, hidden under a layer of diverse melodic and rhythmic structures. The selection and order of the presented parts of the composition is not accidental. Lutosławski himself allowed for the possibility of presenting the work in different variants or performing it in an abridged version.
The orchestra will be conducted by Vincent Kozlovsky, a renowned conductor who is the music director of the Lublin Opera.
The media patron of the concert is the Polish Music Information Center polmic.pl.
The concert is co-organized by the National Institute of Music and Dance as part of the “Conductor-in-Residence” program, financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
The concert is organized in cooperation with the PWM as part of the TUTTI.PL program promoting the performance of Polish music.
Co-financed by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage from the Culture Promotion Fund – a state special-purpose fund, as part of the “Composer Commissions” program, implemented by the National Institute of Music and Dance.
